Adoptable Dogs
Below you'll find our current group of dogs looking for homes. Remember, in addition to adopting these wonderful companions, you can always swing by and take one or more of them for a walk, a hike, an overnight or camping trip. It's a great way to enjoy the company of a dog and give him some exercise, affection and socialization. You can also hang out in the cat room and play with the kitties. We update this site weekly, usually on Sunday.
If you are interested in adopting, please call 544-0206, or visit us at 101 Animal Shelter Road, located just west of the airport stoplight near the turnoff for the RFTA bus barn.

Do You Know This Dog?
She is a young (1.5 years?) reddish brown and white Border Collie mix female. She was found near Conundrum in early August. A little shy with
a dear personality.

Romeo
Romeo is a 5.5-month-old German Shepherd mix male. He is absolutely gorgeous with a short tan coat. True to his name, he is a big lover and thinks he is a lap dog (in spite of the fact that he is medium in size right now and bound to get bigger)— he will be on your lap in seconds. Romeo loves everyone! He will be a great family dog.

Cody
Cody is a 7-month-old Aussie Shepherd/Red Heeler mix male. He has a darling personality. He is great with everyone—people and dogs. Cody is playful and affectionate. He would be a great family dog.

Sumner
He is a 2-year-old gorgeous neutered male St. Bernard/Mastiff (?) mix with light brown (fawn) and white spots on body with ears a darker shade of brown. Found on July 25th at 0229 Bobcat Lane, Redstone Ranch Acres but now up for adoption. Gentle and quiet. Loves to go on walks. |
 |
Bomber
Bomber is a handsome two-year-old black Labrador mix male. He has a ton of energy and just recently arrived at the shelter. He would love to get daily exercise. Bomber is very friendly with people. It appears that he has not been well socialized with other dogs. He acts VERY aggressive and gets very rowdy when he sees other dogs and is quite hard to hold back. It is possible that this can be trained out of him given his age and breed. He has the potential to be a great companion but he needs a lot of work to get rid of this negative behavior.

Billy
Billy is a two-year-old Husky mix male. He loved being a sled dog but he had some medical issues. He was going to be euthanized so we brought him to our shelter. He was so scared at first but has completely come out of his shell. Billy loves to race around the front dog yard and has an exuberant personality. He is very affectionate with people and gets along great with female dogs. He is submissive and dominant males have taken advantage of him. He is willing to learn and would be a wonderful companion.

Annie
Annie is a 5-year-old Pit Bull mix female. She is very gentle and calm with the sweetest disposition. She is friendly and affectionate with everyone. Annie was found running loose near Ruedi Reservoir in late June. She is good with many other dogs unless challenged--then she will jump into the fray. She has a bum back leg but is not in pain and still likes to exercise every day. She won't run a marathon but she will love a nice hour-long hike every day. Her leg may improve in time. She likes to smile, give "flea bites" and wants only to please.

Puma
Puma is an 8.5-year-old Husky mix female. She is a retired sled dog. Puma is sweet, affectionate and a little shy at first. She has really been coming out of her shell since this photo was taken—with her tail tucked between her legs. She enjoys going for walks and is pretty good on-leash. She is good with other dogs except for dominant females. Puma deserves a loving family.

Ice
Ice is a 2.5-year-old Husky mix female. Tall and gorgeous, she is a retired sled dog. She has a really good personality and really likes people. Ice is sweet, calm and quiet. Ice is a dominant female so she is not good with other female dogs but fine with males. She is strong but good on leash. Ice is a demure lady who would love to have a new family.

Orion
Orion is one of our newest arrivals of Husky mixes who have retired from being sled dogs. He is 2 years old, very friendly and willing. He needs socialization with other dogs and people. He likes female dogs. Orion is energetic, strong and smart. With training, he will become a loyal companion.

 |
Domino
Domino is a small 3-year-old Beagle/Border Collie male. He is friendly with adults but is not good with kids, especially teen-agers, or other dogs. He is large enough to hike and small enough to cuddle. Domino has had a tough life and would love to have a second chance as a member of your family. He would do well as a single pet in a home without children. |
 |
Dot
Dot is a 10.5-year-old Husky mix female. She is a retired sled dog. In addition to being gorgeous, she is gentle and loving. Like the other sled dogs, she has a friendly, outgoing personality. She hangs out in the shelter's front yard and is usually quite patient with all the new dogs who are often much younger. She is a beautiful dog who deserves a loving home. |

Bo, Our Shelter Mascot
Bo is a thirteen-year-old Husky mix male and has been with us for quite a while. He is a retired sled dog. He is very handsome with one ear that stands straight up, and another that flops over. He is energetic and playful with a sweet personality. He gets along well with all people, as well as other dogs. He is not intimidated by any dominant dogs. He has had a few medical issues and operations and yet bounces back strong every time. Bo has been to a few foster homes but seems to prefer life at the shelter where he is king of the dog yard. We all love Bo
very much and can honestly say that he is the only dog who is probably happier at the shelter than in a home. |
