Below you'll find our current group of dogs looking for homes. Remember, in addition to adopting these wonderful companions, you can always swing by and take one or more of them for a walk, a hike, an overnight or camping trip. It's a great way to enjoy the company of a dog and give him some exercise, affection and socialization. You can also hang out in the cat room and play with the kitties. We update this site weekly, usually on Sunday.

Yogi
Yogi is a 5-month-old Chihuahua mix male. He is an incredibly athletic dog with lots of energy. Once his leg heals, he will really enjoy and benefit from daily exercise.Yogi would do best in a responsible and structured home.
Luna
Part of a five-dog sled team whose owner could no longer keep them, Luna is a beautiful, soft-spoken, 2.5-year-old Alaskan Husky who gets along well with other dogs. She is a bit shy due to lack of socialization. Luna was bred to be a sled dog but would prefer to be a pet.

3-year-old Alaskan Husky who gets along well with people and other dogs. Elsie is his mother--see below.
Curly
Part of a five-dog sled team whose owner could no longer keep them, Curly is a gentle, affectionate, 5-year-old, tan-colored, Alaskan Husky who gets along well with people and other dogs. He was bred to be a sled dog and has even competed in a 100-mile race!!!

Sopris
Sopris is a handsome, athletic, affectionate, 1-year-old, Australian Cattle Dog/ Corgi mix who was found running loose on East Sopris Creek Road in January and never claimed. We named him Sopris. He gets along well with people and other pets. He is a happy, friendly, cool-looking dog!
Thomas
Thomas is a handsome, long-legged, athletic, 6-year-old fox hound male. He gets along well with other dogs and people. Thomas will make an excellent companion.

Rocco
He is an older neutered male Boxer/Pitbull/Lab? Roughly 11 years old. Found in Emma on 12/9. Super sweet old man. We recently named him Rocco as he was never claimed.
Elsie
Part of a five-dog sled team whose owner could no longer keep them, Elsie is 5 years old and ery extroverted with people and other dogs. These dogs require incredibly active, responsible homes.
Sam
Sam is a strong, energetic, black-and white-colored, 5-year-old Boston Terrier mix with a splash of Pit Bull which makes her larger than the average Boston Terrier. She was a bit wary of strangers when she first came to the shelter even though she warmed up easily once she knew them. She is now becoming more outgoing and trusting every day. She is a real cutie and seems very smart as she learns new commands quickly
George
George is a handsome, athletic, fawn-colored, five-year-old Pit Bull mix who was abandoned by his owner. He is happy and friendly, but requires an incredibly knowledgeable, responsible owner due to his immense power and breed mixture.
Bellina
Bellina is a 1.5-year-old happy, friendly, pretty Cattle Dog mix who gets along well with people and other pets. She has a slightly deformed front leg from a disease she contracted when she was born in Mexico, but her limp doesn’t slow her down at all.
Maya is a sweet, pretty, two-year-old Pit Bull mix who is the mother of our nine Pit Bull/Boxer puppies--all but one adorable female (see below) have been adopted. She is athletic, affectionate and will require a responsible, active and knowledgeable home.
Cleo is an adorable, friendly, soft-spoken 9-year-old Husky mix female. She is a retired sled dog looking for a loving home. She is very outgoing with people. Cleo has the cutest face!
Pumpkin is a beautiful, friendly, calm 9-year-old Husky mix female. She is a retired sled dog looking for a loving home. Pumpkin has an adorable expression with ears that reach to the sky.
Timber is a sleek, friendly, 9-year-old Husky mix female. She is a retired sled dog looking for a loving home.
Gorgeous Siberian Husky female, approximately 4 years old? She is very energetic so it was hard to get a good photo of her, not in motion! Athletic and affectionate. Gets along great with other dogs.
Sarge is a 7-year-old male Rottweiler. He is friendly and sweet. Great with other dogs and loves people. Perfect except for severe separation anxiety. Would do best in a home with another dog and constant companionship. Ask staff for more details.
1.5-year-old Lab mix female. Loves to cuddle, super affectionate. Gets along with other dogs, but is also possesive around people and can be a bit food/toy aggressive with other dogs. Might do best as a single pet or better--with someone who is knowledgeable about food/toy guarding and is willing to work with her. She lives with another dog in the shelter kennel and does fine with him! She is a really great dog.
Genevieve is an adorable 3.5-year-old Beagle female. She is very loving and playful. Genevieve would do best in a knowledgeable home due to issues surrounding separation anxiety. She must be the only pet in the home!
Boudreaux is a 7.5-year-old reddish/tan Pug/Chihuahua mix male. He's good with other dogs, but is not super social with them. We would recommend a home without small children as he can be a bit sensitive about being petted. Ask staff for more information. He was originally surrendered due to his issue of separation anxiety and is currently on medication. Perhaps the right home for Boudreaux would be with someone who is not away often and who can provide him with proper exercise as well as stimulus. Look at his adorable, funny face!
Allie is a 2-year-old Cattle Dog mix female. She is a fun-loving, high-energy dog. She loves people. She can be aggressive with other dogs and would do best in a single-pet home. She is great with older children but might be best in a home without toddlers only because of her energy. Allie knows some commands and responds well when you call her name. As far as her being off-leash, we have been told that once she knows you, she will stick around. She will be a loyal companion.
Ruby is a 4.5-year-old black and brown brindle Terrier mix female. She is very scared right now. She would be good in a quiet, loving home where she can come out of her shell. She has the cutest under-bite. She wants attention but she needs a gentle touch. Ruby is a sweet dog who will love you back in spades once she knows she can trust her new home.
Billy is a 4-year-old Husky mix male. He loved being a sled dog but he had some medical issues. He was going to be euthanized so we brought him to our shelter. He was so scared at first but has completely come out of his shell. Billy loves to race around the front dog yard and has an exuberant personality. He is very affectionate with people and gets along great with lots of different dogs--large and small. He is submissive and dominant males have taken advantage of him. He is willing to learn and would be a wonderful companion.
Ice is a 10.5-year-old Husky mix female. Tall and gorgeous, she is a retired sled dog. She has a really good personality and really likes people. Ice is sweet, calm and quiet. Ice is a dominant female so she is not good with other female dogs but fine with males. She is strong but good on leash. Ice is a demure lady who would love to have a new family.
